I.C. Hope
I.C. Hope
Research shows that rates of psychological distress among young people, including symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders, have increased since the pandemic. Recent research covering 80,000 youth globally found that depressive and anxiety symptoms doubled during the pandemic, with 25% of youth experiencing depressive symptoms and 20% experiencing anxiety symptoms.

I.C. Hope is an evidence-based program that provides educational and interactive presentations for children and youth to learn how to eliminate mental health stigmas and develop coping skills for other mental health and wellness-related problems such as, but not limited to bullying, body image, self-esteem, risky decisions, substance use, stress, and depression.

By introducing the topic of mental health in a way that is not overwhelming or scary, children and youth develop a better understanding of emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
Most importantly, recognizing that mental health is an integral part of child development supports the wellbeing of the whole child (physical health, intellectual health, mental health.)
It is the goal of MHA-A to educate children about mental health and help them determine the best way to handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. MHA-A can do this through the I.C. Hope program which is designed for youth pre-K-12th grade.
